Manalapan Township would like its residents to know there will be no garbage collection Jan. 2 because the county reclamation center is closed. The town’s recycling yard will be open on Dec. 31 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Details: 732-446-8303.

The Holland-America Group brings together Dutch-speaking people in central New Jersey for three to four lunches annually at restaurants in Monmouth and Ocean counties and during a summer barbecue. A New Year’s Eve party for members will be held Jan. 1 at a member’s house in Freehold. The Embroiderers’ Guild of America- Monmouth Chapter day group will meet for its annual pot luck lunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 19 at St. Mary’s Church Hall, Colts Neck. A video about long- and shortstitching, called needle painting, will be shown. Details: 732-833-2504.
An antiques and collectibles auction will be held at the Morganville United Methodist Church, 215 Conover Road (off Route 79), Marlboro, on Jan. 14. Preview of items will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the auction at 11 a.m. Richard Gorecki will serve as auctioneer for the event. Donations of quality consignments are currently being accepted. A food kitchen will be on site. Cash or good checks will be accepted as payment; no credit cards will be accepted. A 10 percent buyers premium will benefit the church.
