Former NFL player to discuss homophobia
LGBT at MCLwill continue its forums for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender teenagers and their parents with a special guest speaker on Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at library headquarters in Manalapan.
Monmouth County Library will welcome former NFL defensive back Wade Davis as the guest speaker for the evening. Davis played in the NFL from 2000-04 with the Tennessee Titans, Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins.
Davis is involved in the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network sports project “Changing the Game,” an initiative designed to combat homophobia in K-12 sports by opening conversations in schools and on teams about the issue.
Questions and discussion will follow Davis’ presentation. School sports officials are welcome to attend.
According to a press release, the goal of LGBT at MCL is to provide connecting programs and educational forums for LGBT teens and their parents. Library headquarters is at 125 Symmes Drive, Manalapan. For more information about this program, call 732-431-7222.
